- About 40% inside your market
You live in this market, or you are in it on a regular cadence.
Role
You cover both doors in your market: retailers and consumer brands. You hold the whole market so Maya never sends two people into the same city with competing stories. You set the sequence, who to call and with which instrument, and you carry every account there until the book is large enough to split.
This role is on the partnerships team. You work with the retailers and brands those households already shop.
Responsibilities
Retail book
- •Joint business plans with the grocery, mass, club, convenience and fuel retailers in your market
- •Category, shopper marketing, fuel and retail media relationships at each one
- •The retailer operating calendar: line reviews, resets, circulars and media flights
- •Household programs a chain can approve without treating Maya as a supplier on its deal sheet
Brand book
- •Brand partnerships funded from shopper, trade or retail-media budgets
- •Fund control through period close: accrued, committed, spent, reconciled, nothing stranded
- •Prior approval and spend authority secured before a flight, with proof of performance on verified household outcomes after it
- •Analysis before and after each flight, and quarterly business reviews for brand leadership
Across both
- •Keep one story in the market. A retailer meeting and a brand meeting in the same city must not contradict each other
- •Decide which instrument belongs to which counterparty. Retailer-funded programs and brand-funded programs are not interchangeable
- •Prioritise: a live test with a signed budget beats a courtesy tour of every campus in town
- •Coach or split the book when a specialist retail or brand account manager is added to your market
- •Forecast revenue, fund position and capacity for the market, and escalate legal, exclusivity and overspend risk
- •Represent Maya at local industry events without implying accounts that are not signed
Requirements
- •7+ years in consumer-goods customer teams, retail partnerships or a national sales or shopper agency, with direct time on both a major chain and a manufacturer
- •You have closed programs on each side: a retailer joint business plan and a brand-funded flight
- •You have carried fund accountability for a book: accrued, committed, spent, reconciled, with no period-end surprise
- •You can run a category review in the morning and a promotional P&L in the afternoon
- •Judgment under conflict: when a chain and a brand in your market want opposite things, you do not promise both
Nice to have
- •People leadership of one or two account managers
- •Fuel and grocery experience in the same market
- •You have carried several unrelated accounts in one market at the same time
