Maya Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to all Maya services and to every Channel through which you reach Maya or Maya reaches you. "Channel" means any medium Maya operates on now or in the future, including SMS and RCS text messaging, WhatsApp, web chat on our websites, email, and voice calls and voicemail. By using Maya, you agree to this AUP.
Maya is built to help people find better deals. This policy exists to protect that mission, protect other users, and comply with applicable law.
1. What You Can Do
You may use Maya's services to:
- Find deals on phones, cell plans, groceries, gas, pet food, and other everyday purchases for your own personal use
- Get recommendations and comparisons on products and services for personal decision-making
- Interact with Maya's AI over SMS, web chat, or other supported channels
- Refer others to Maya (in a genuine, non-deceptive way)
2. What You Can't Do
2.1 Fraudulent or Deceptive Behavior
You may not:
- Provide false, misleading, or fictitious information about yourself, your devices, or your needs
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity to Maya or to any vendor Maya refers you to
- Abuse Maya's recommendation or assessment process to obtain artificially favorable quotes or assessments
- Use Maya to commit fraud against third-party vendors, carriers, or retailers
2.2 Abuse of Maya's Systems
You may not:
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, scripts) to interact with Maya's SMS service or websites without express written permission
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from Maya's services
- Probe, scan, or test the security of Maya's systems
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to Maya's systems, data, or other users' accounts
- Interfere with Maya's service infrastructure or cause disproportionate load on our servers
2.3 Channel Misuse
You may not:
- Use any Channel for anything other than its intended Household Buying Assistant purpose
- Repeatedly trigger STOP/START/HELP keywords in bad faith to disrupt service
- Send spam, unsolicited commercial content, or harmful material through any Channel
2.4 Harmful or Illegal Content
You may not use Maya's services, or any Channel, in connection with:
- Content that is threatening, harassing, hateful, or defamatory
- Content that violates another person's privacy or intellectual property rights
- Illegal activity of any kind
- Content that promotes or facilitates harm to any person or group
2.5 How You Talk to Maya
Maya is here to help you, and we ask that you treat her the way you would treat a person doing that job. Most of the time that is all this section means.
You may not, on any Channel:
- Direct slurs at Maya, her AI systems, our staff, or anyone else. A slur breaks this rule wherever it is aimed ... it does not have to be directed at Maya to count
- Direct sexual content at Maya or her AI systems, including sexual insults and sexual propositions
- Threaten violence against Maya, her AI systems, our staff, or any other person
- Direct personal insults or sustained hostility at Maya, her AI systems, or our staff
What this section does NOT prohibit. Swearing about a price, telling us the service is bad, saying a recommendation was useless, or venting about something that went wrong are all fine, and none of them count as abuse. We would rather hear it. This section is about conduct directed at Maya, her AI systems, or a person, not about frustration with what Maya told you.
2.6 Commercial Exploitation
You may not:
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit Maya's services without written permission
- Use Maya's services to operate a competing service or to build a product that competes with Maya
- Use Maya's brand, name, or recommendations in commercial marketing without permission
3. Trademarks
You may not use Maya's name, logos, taglines, or other brand identifiers without our express prior written consent — including as hyperlinks, in advertising, or to imply any official relationship with Maya.
4. Enforcement
Suspension: We may suspend your access to Maya immediately if you breach this AUP or if we reasonably suspect a violation while we investigate.
Termination: Serious or repeated violations may result in permanent termination of your access to Maya's services.
Content removal: We may remove content or block actions that violate this AUP.
Legal action: We reserve the right to pursue legal remedies for violations that cause harm to Maya, our users, or third parties.
4.1 Automated enforcement
Some enforcement is automated. Maya's systems detect abusive, threatening, hateful, or sexually harassing messages directed at Maya or at our staff, and we may act on them without a person reviewing the message first.
Where Maya detects repeated abusive messages in the same conversation, we will normally warn you and tell you what will happen next before suspending your access. A single serious violation, or a violation detected by other means, may result in suspension without a warning.
When we suspend your access this way, Maya tells you in the conversation, gives you a case number, and opens a support case for review.
4.2 Asking us to reinstate your access
If your access has been suspended and you believe it was a mistake, or you want to ask us to restore it, email [email protected] and include the case number Maya gave you if you have it. We will review every request. This is the same address you can use at any time to ask us to review anything Maya has decided or recommended.
Use [email protected] to report someone else's misuse of Maya's services (see Section 5).
5. Reporting Violations
If you believe someone is misusing Maya's services — or if you receive unsolicited or harmful messages related to Maya — please report it to [email protected]. We investigate all reports and respond as appropriate.
Copyright infringement: to report content you believe infringes your copyright, see our Copyright & DMCA Policy and send a notice to [email protected].
6. Updates
We may update this AUP from time to time. The most current version is always at maya.markets/legal/acceptable-use. Your continued use of Maya's services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
