Maya Product Specific Terms
Last Updated: May 28, 2026
These Product Specific Terms describe the fees, service mechanics, warranties, and return rights for each of Maya's service verticals. They supplement the Maya Terms of Service and, in the event of any conflict regarding product-specific matters, these terms control.
Maya operates in two commercial modes: direct commerce (Maya is the seller) and referral or advisory (Maya earns a commission, sells an information product, or helps you shop at third parties). The model varies by vertical and is clearly identified below.
0. Price information, community data, and points (all services)
This section applies to every Maya service line below unless a later section says something more specific for that vertical (in which case both apply).
What Maya shows you
Maya displays price information — shelf prices, pump prices, plan rates, savings estimates, and similar data — from participating retailer feeds, public sources, and community-backed pricing (receipt scans, photos, and member contributions we aggregate into local price indexes). We call that mix community pricing. It helps your household, but it is not a complete or real-time record of every price at every store.
No guarantee of accuracy
Maya does not guarantee that any price, promotion, availability, or savings estimate is accurate, complete, or still valid when you shop. Prices change constantly. Loyalty programs, coupons, payment type, quantity limits, and in-store-only deals can change what you pay. The price at the register or checkout page of the selling party always controls.
Community pricing will include errors — wrong products, stale dates, bad matches, or outliers. That is inherent to how the index is built, not a promise that every row is verified before you see it.
You verify before you act
Maya's outputs are informational and advisory. You are responsible for confirming prices and terms before you drive, shop, switch carriers, or buy alcohol, fuel, groceries, or anything else. See also the Terms of Service (AI processing and Deal Analysis).
Points are not cash — and are not refunded for price mistakes
Many features use membership points (account credits with no cash value). When you confirm an unlock, points pay for Maya's analysis and delivery — not for a guarantee that a quoted price will still be available or was ever correct.
Maya will not automatically restore, refund, or re-credit points because:
- A price we showed was wrong, outdated, or incomplete
- A store's shelf or pump price differed from what we showed
- A promotion ended or was not honored
- You paid more or less than an estimate, or savings did not materialize
Free alerts (heads-up messages that do not require a points unlock) are also provided without any points-back guarantee if prices were wrong.
We may, in our sole discretion, grant a one-time points credit when you contact [email protected] and we determine a material error in our systems — not normal market movement or community variance. We are never required to do so. That goodwill does not create an obligation for future requests.
Separate from points: If you paid Maya a separate fee for a specific product (for example a purchased Grocery Savings Plan), any refund rights for that fee are described in the vertical section below — not as an automatic points refund.
Third parties
For advisory and referral services, retailers, carriers, stations, and lenders control their own prices, policies, and fulfillment. Maya is not responsible for their acts or omissions.

1. Device Services — Direct Commerce
Maya is the buyer and seller of record for device transactions.
How It Works
- You tell Maya about your device — Make, model, condition, carrier
- Maya assesses your device — AI-estimated current market value and upgrade cost
- Maya presents upgrade options — Specific device + trade-in combinations with a net cost
- You approve a transaction — Maya buys your current device and sells you the upgrade device
- Maya handles logistics — Prepaid shipping label for your trade-in; delivery of your new device
What Maya Buys From You
When you sell your device to Maya:
- Maya is the buyer and will pay you the agreed price upon receipt and verification of the device
- The agreed price is the Upgrade Recommendation value quoted to you before you confirm
- Final payment may be adjusted if the device's physical condition differs materially from what was described (see Device Assessment below)
- You must ship the device within 7 days of confirming the transaction. If Maya does not receive the device within 14 days, the transaction is cancelled and no payment is due
What Maya Sells You
When you buy a device from Maya:
- Maya warrants that devices sold are functional and match the described condition at time of shipment
- Device condition grades: Pristine (no cosmetic wear), Excellent (minimal wear), Acceptable (visible wear, fully functional), Repairable (functional with cosmetic damage)
- Device prices include applicable Maya processing fees
Device Assessment
A Device Assessment is Maya's AI-estimated value of your device based on information you provide. The assessment is an estimate — it may be revised upon physical inspection if the actual condition differs from your description. Factors that can affect final value: physical damage not disclosed, non-original parts, activation lock, water damage.
You can dispute a revised assessment by contacting [email protected] within 48 hours of receiving Maya's revised offer. If we cannot agree on value, Maya will return your device at no cost to you.
Returns and Refunds (Devices)
Devices you buy from Maya: If the device you receive does not match the described condition or is non-functional on arrival, contact [email protected] within 7 days of delivery. Maya will provide a prepaid return label and either replace the device or issue a full refund.
Devices you sell to Maya: Once Maya has issued payment and the transaction is confirmed, the sale is final. If there is a dispute about payment, contact [email protected] within 14 days.
Fees
Maya charges a processing fee of 10% of the transaction value on completed device transactions. This fee is disclosed in the Upgrade Recommendation before you confirm. The fee is deducted from your proceeds (for trade-ins) or added to the device purchase price (for upgrades), as shown in the transaction summary.
Market quotes before you trade in
When Maya shows resale values, upgrade timing, or comparison prices before you agree to a device transaction, Section 0 applies to those estimates. Trade-in payment and device warranties above apply once you complete a transaction.
2. Cell Plan Services — Referral
Maya earns a referral commission from carriers. This service is free to consumers.
How It Works
- Tell Maya about your current carrier, plan, monthly cost, and usage habits
- Maya searches available plans and ranks alternatives by value
- Maya sends you a recommendation when a materially better option is available
- Maya links you to the carrier to complete the switch directly
Maya's Role
Maya is a comparison and referral service for cell plans. Maya is not a party to your carrier agreement. When you switch plans through Maya's referral:
- You enter into a direct contract with the carrier
- The carrier is responsible for all service terms, billing, and customer support
- Maya earns a referral commission from the carrier; this does not affect plan pricing to you
Important Limitations
Plan pricing, availability, and terms are controlled entirely by carriers and may change without notice. Always verify current plan terms directly with the carrier before switching. Carrier promotions may have eligibility requirements (e.g., new customers only, port-in required) that Maya cannot guarantee you meet.
Section 0 applies to plan comparisons and savings estimates, including when you spend points on Deal Analysis.
Additional terms may be added here as this service evolves.
3. Gas Price Service — Advisory
Maya does not sell fuel. Maya shows estimated pump prices near places you save in your profile (for example home), using community pricing and available feeds.
How it works
- Share your area and fuel grade (for example regular unleaded)
- Ask for local prices (for example text ⛽)
- Maya ranks nearby stations based on available signals
- You choose where to buy — Maya does not pump gas or charge your card
Important limitations
- Posted prices may differ by payment method, loyalty app, or time of day
- Coverage depends on what the community and feeds have reported recently in your area
- Section 0 applies in full (accuracy, community errors, points)
Additional terms may be added here as this service evolves.
4. Grocery Optimization Service — Direct Sale of Advisory Product
Maya sells an optimized grocery shopping plan. Maya is not a grocery retailer.
What It Is
Maya's grocery service produces a personalized Grocery Savings Plan — a shopping list optimized across one or more stores to minimize your total grocery spend based on current prices and promotions at participating retailers. The plan is Maya's product; the actual grocery purchases are made by you directly at the stores.
How It Works
- Tell Maya what you regularly buy (or share a shopping list)
- Maya analyzes current prices across participating retailers in your area
- Maya produces a Grocery Savings Plan showing you exactly where to buy what, and at what price
- You shop accordingly — in-store or via the retailers' own ordering channels
Fees
Detailed Grocery Savings Plans are a paid service. The fee is presented clearly before you are charged and may be structured as:
- Per-plan fee — A one-time charge for a single Grocery Savings Plan
- Weekly or monthly subscription — Recurring access to updated plans
The current pricing is displayed at the time you request a plan. You are never charged without explicit confirmation.
Free alerts: Basic price drop alerts via SMS (notify-only, no full plan) are available at no charge.
Beer, wine, and spirits
Beer, wine, and liquor use the same list and price mechanics as groceries, scoped to those categories. You must be at least 21 (or the legal purchase age where you shop, if higher). Maya does not sell or deliver alcohol. You buy only from licensed retailers, and you are responsible for local laws (ID, dry areas, quantity limits, and time-of-sale rules). Section 0 applies.
Returns and Refunds (Grocery Plans)
This subsection applies only to fees you paid Maya for a Grocery Savings Plan — not to membership points spent on Deal Analysis or unlocks (Section 0).
If a Grocery Savings Plan contains materially inaccurate prices (for example prices shown are significantly higher than actual in-store prices at the time of the plan), contact [email protected] within 7 days for a full refund of that plan purchase fee.
Small price differences (within normal daily fluctuation) are not grounds for refund. Maya relies on community and third-party pricing that may not reflect real-time in-store prices.
Limitations
- Plan coverage depends on available retailer pricing data in your area; not all retailers or items are available in all regions
- Prices and promotions change frequently; verify current prices before finalizing your shopping trip
- Maya is not responsible for stock availability, store hours, or any aspect of your in-store shopping experience
- Section 0 applies in full
Additional terms may be added here as this service evolves.
5. Pet Food Services — Direct Commerce
Maya buys pet food and sells it directly to consumers.
How It Works
- Tell Maya about your pet (species, weight, dietary needs, preferred brands)
- Maya identifies the best available price on your preferred food
- You place an order through Maya
- Maya fulfills and ships the order directly to you
Warranties and Product Safety
- Maya warrants that pet food sold is within its manufacturer's stated shelf life and is sealed/undamaged on arrival
- All pet food sourced by Maya is from authorized distributors or retailers
- If you receive a damaged, expired, or incorrect product, contact [email protected] within 7 days for a replacement or full refund
Returns and Refunds (Pet Food)
- Incorrect or damaged product: Full refund or replacement — contact [email protected] within 7 days of delivery
- Change of mind returns: Unopened, undamaged pet food may be returned within 14 days for a full refund (Maya will provide a prepaid return label where available)
- Perishable products: Cannot be returned once delivered in good condition
Fees and Pricing
Pet food is priced at or below the best available market price at time of order. Maya earns its margin on the buy/sell spread. There is no separate service fee charged to you. Shipping may be included or itemized separately depending on order size and your location — this is shown clearly before checkout.
Price monitoring (before you order)
When Maya shows pet-food prices or alerts before you place an order, Section 0 applies. Order-specific warranties below apply to direct purchases from Maya.
Additional terms may be added here as this service evolves.
6. BNPL and Financing — Facilitation for Direct Transactions
For Maya's direct commerce transactions (devices, pet food), Maya may offer access to buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) or short-term financing.
Maya is not a lender. Financing is provided by third-party lenders. Approval, interest rates, repayment terms, and fees are determined entirely by the lender. Maya is responsible only for accurately describing the financing option available; the lender is responsible for the financing agreement itself.
By accepting financing:
- You are entering a separate agreement with the lender
- You remain responsible for the total purchase price of the Maya transaction regardless of financing terms
- Maya's obligation is fulfilled upon delivery of the product/service; financing disputes are between you and the lender
7. General Terms Across All Verticals
Price and points: Section 0 governs community pricing accuracy and points for all verticals unless a more specific rule above says otherwise.
Availability: Not all services or products are available in all regions. Current availability is communicated in-service.
Taxes: Where applicable, sales tax, VAT, GST, or other taxes will be calculated and disclosed at checkout before you confirm a transaction.
Shipping (direct commerce): Estimated delivery times are shown at checkout. Maya is not responsible for carrier delays beyond its control. Risk of loss transfers to you upon delivery.
Order cancellation: For direct commerce transactions, you may cancel before shipment by contacting [email protected]. After shipment, the standard return policy applies.
Inventory: Maya sells from available inventory. If an item is unavailable after you place an order, Maya will notify you and either offer an equivalent substitute or a full refund.
8. Updates
We update these terms when we launch new verticals, change pricing, or modify service mechanics. Material changes are communicated via SMS and reflected in the "Last Updated" date above.
