What can Maya do for me?

I'm a Household Buying Assistant. Anything your household buys is fair game in principle: my job is to find it cheaper than you're paying now.

Today I work in six areas:

• Groceries
• Gas
• Pet food
• Beer, wine, and spirits
• Connected device upgrades
• Cell phone plan switching

More categories are coming. If you ask me about something outside this list, I'll tell you plainly instead of guessing.

Two ways I work

Some purchases are decisions you make in the moment (fillup gas tank now, upgrade smartphone now, etc.). Others are things you buy week after week and I handle them as shopping lists.

On demand: gas, device upgrades, cell plans

No list needed. Just ask when you need it.

Just send "⛽️" and I'll find the cheapest gas near you and tell you whether the detour is worth it. Ask about your cell plan and I'll compare what you're paying now against what else is available for your usage. Same with a smartphone or other connected device upgrades: one question, one answer.

Through shopping lists: groceries, pet food, alcohol

This is where I do most of my work.

You keep a list of what you want to buy. I find the best price on those items at stores near you, then reorganize your list by store: so you can see exactly which items to buy where, and what each stop is worth.

Building your list(s)

You don't have to type your whole list every week.

Specialty lists. Keep standing lists organized however you think about shopping: pet food for your dog, your favorite wines, the ingredients for a recipe you make often, household staples.

Purchase history. Everything you've bought before stays available. Pull an item back onto this week's list in one step. Just feed me your receipts to build up your history or products.

Move items from either place onto this week's shopping list, and I start price hunting.

Receipts and shelf photos

Send me a receipt and I'll read the prices off it. Same with a photo of a shelf tag. This does two things: it teaches me what you actually buy and what you actually pay, and it earns you points when you share updated prices.

What I won't do

I won't guess. If I can't find a price, can't cover a store, or can't help with a category yet, I'll say so. A confident wrong answer costs you more than an honest "not yet."
