Costa Rica — Additional Terms
These additional terms apply to users whose primary location is in Costa Rica. They supplement and, in the event of any conflict, take precedence over the Maya Terms of Service.
Service Availability Notice
Maya's services in Costa Rica may not include every vertical (devices, cell plans, groceries, pet food) in all regions. Current service availability is communicated within the service itself.
Contracting Entity
You are contracting with:

(Maya does not currently operate a local Costa Rican entity.)
Governing Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, except where mandatory Costa Rican consumer protection law or data protection law provides you with greater protection, in which case those mandatory provisions apply.
Dispute Resolution
The arbitration agreement in Section 18 of the Terms of Service applies to the extent permitted under Costa Rican law. Where mandatory Costa Rican consumer protection law (Ley 7472) requires access to local courts or dispute resolution mechanisms, you retain those rights.
Data Protection — Ley 8968
Costa Rican residents have rights under the Ley de Protección de la Persona frente al tratamiento de sus Datos Personales (Ley 8968, 2011) and its regulations. These rights include:
Right of access (ARCO rights):
- Acceso: Request confirmation that Maya holds your personal data and obtain a copy
- Rectificación: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Cancelación: Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Oposición: Object to the processing of your data in certain circumstances

Data Controller Registration: Maya Verdant, LLC processes personal data of Costa Rican residents and complies with applicable registration and security requirements under Ley 8968.
Consumer Protection — Ley 7472
Your rights as a consumer under the Ley de Promoción de la Competencia y Defensa Efectiva del Consumidor (Ley 7472) are not waived by these Terms. These include rights to accurate information, protection against misleading commercial practices, and access to effective remedies.
For consumer complaints, you may also contact the Comisión Nacional del Consumidor (CNC) through MEIC (Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Comercio).
Language
These Terms are provided in English. If you require a Spanish-language version, contact [email protected] and we will provide one upon request. In the event of any conflict between an English version and a Spanish version, the English version controls unless otherwise required by applicable Costa Rican law.
Currency and Pricing
Where Maya facilitates deals on products or services in Costa Rica, prices may be quoted in USD or Costa Rican Colones (CRC) depending on the vendor. Maya is not responsible for currency conversion rates or fluctuations.
Conflict Resolution
In the event of any conflict between these Costa Rica additional terms and Maya's main Terms of Service, these additional terms control for Costa Rican users.
