How do I scan a barcode to Maya?
Scan the package with a barcode app, then use the app's share button to send just the number to Maya. She replies with the product. On Android, QR & Barcode Scanner by Gamma Play works well. On iPhone, try Fast QR, Bar & UPC Scanner.
Typing a product name is slow and easy to get wrong. Scanning tells Maya exactly which brand and which size you mean, with no guessing.
On Android. Install QR & Barcode Scanner by Gamma Play. Point it at the barcode, tap Share, choose your Messages app, then choose the conversation with Maya. Scan the next one. You can go down a whole shelf this way.
On iPhone. Use Fast QR, Bar & UPC Scanner by Kulwant Kuar. Scan, tap Share, choose your Messages app, then choose the conversation with Maya. Any other scanner app works too, as long as it can share just the number. Maya reads a plain barcode number and nothing else, so an app that shares a web link, or wraps the number in words, will not reach her.
Test your app once before you do a whole shelf. Send one barcode. If Maya comes back with a product name, your app is sending it the way she reads it. If nothing comes back at all, the app is adding something extra, and a simpler app will work better.
